California Arts License Plate

California's Arts Council license plate was first introduced in 1994, and it has embossed blue lettering on the optional reflective Coastline graphic base, which was created by a famous California artist Wayne Thiebaud. On the left of the serial number are stylized hills and palm trees, which is representative of the Southern California coastline. Regular sequential series have 3 letter alpha combination, followed by 3 digit serial number in ABC123 format, or 3 digit serial number followed by 3 letter alpha combination in 123ABC format. It can also be personalized with up to 6 characters. Arts license plates are available to anyone residing in California without additional requirements.
